HVDC technology and HVDC grids course
We are pleased to announce the EES-UETP course "HVDC technology and HVDC grids", Barcelona, Spain - December 13-16, 2016. The course will cover the key issues related to HVDC technologies and HVDC grids and will include sessions from both industry and academia. This announcement is mainly to announce the course and let you save the dates. This course is organized within the framework of the EES-UETP Consortium. Day 1 - Introduction. Drivers for the development of HVDC grids. Energy Scenarios. Topologies of offshore HVDC grids from the offshore wind perspective. HVDC technology overview + Comparison of HVAC and HVDC Technologies. HVDC converter technology. Inelfe project.
Day 2 – HVDC protection technology. HVDC cables. Wind turbine technologies. Offshore Wind Power Plants. Models for HVDC grids. Power flow modelling of hybrid AC/DC systems. OPF.
Day 3 - Control principles of HVDC grids. Control design for HVDC grids. Interactions between ac and dc systems. Frequency support. Operation and control of offshore wind power plants.
Day 4 - HVDC Grid Planning. Power system operations with HVDC grids. Governance models. Regulatory and ownership aspects. Manufacturers view. Discussion.
The course fees include lectures attendance, documentation (cd and binder), coffee breaks and lunches.
